FabFitFun Winter Box

It's here! The FabFitFun Winter box was delivered months ago and I finally have the time to discuss the products I received. Let's dive right in!

The total value of this season's box is $373 - $393. I got to make a lot of choices for this box, so I was quite happy with everything I got.

Here's my first look!

As always, I'll start with giving this box's artist the credit that she deserves. This box's design was created by Elizabeth Olwen. Elizabeth is a Toronto-based designer that is inspired by the beauty of the world around her. You can check her out on her website elizabetholwen.com or on her Instagram @elizabetholwen.

It's a beautiful box!

My favourite item is the BB Dakota Poncho in Black ($70). I had the option to choose the colour of the poncho. The options were Black, Charcoal, or Mulberry. I chose the black one because the poncho is reversible, so one side is black and the other side is grey. I wasn't sure how heavy the poncho was and I already had a heavy burgundy one that Blake made for me last Christmas and a black one ... black is always a safe bet and I liked the grey side better than the charcoal grey, so I chose that one. It isn't warm, but it's great to wear around the house over a tank top and leggings. I love the look of the Mulberry colour too and now that I know it's a lighter material, I may just buy another one. (These pictures were taken on the same day ... minutes apart, but I look like two completely different people ... the wonders of lighting!)

Another cozy, around the house item, that I love are the blue Pointe Studio Aloe Infused Cozy Socks ($19). These socks are - apparently - infused with aloe to soothe my feet post work-out or while watching Netflix (which is more likely). They are fuzzy, cozy, and warm. They are very comfortable and I love wearing them around the house, especially on these cold winter nights. They help with relaxing and benefit your feet with anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. (You can check out a video of me wearing these cozy socks on my instagram at instagram.com/kaylinmatthew)

The next 'round the house item is the Homemade by Ayesha Curry Ceramic Mug ($16). Oversized cups are the new fad and this one is cute. It's a turquoise ceramic mug that has gold writing that says "I'd rather be in bed", which is a true fact about my everyday life. Nothing beats a hot chocolate or tea by the fire at the end of the day ... wearing fuzzy socks, while wrapped up in a comfy poncho.

Beauty Products: The rest of the box is made up of, primarily, beauty products.

The first product is the AHAVA Mineral Hand Cream ($33). This moisturizing hand cream contains Dead Sea minerals, witch hazel, and allantoin. Honestly, I had to look up what allantoin is - apparently it increases the water absorption to help moisture and soothe the skin.

Next is the DOUCCE Freematic Eyeshadow Pro Palette in Nude ($70). I got to choose between smokey or nude and I chose nude because I've never been able to master the smokey eye. Also, I'm a big fan of the dramatic lip and it's best accompanied with a nude eye look. This palette is very natural and I love the colours.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($75). I haven't used this product yet because I already have a shower exfoliating scrub, but I just finished it recently, so now I can start using it! This treatment product contains papaya, pumpkin, and pineapple enzymes. It helps to improve the overall appearance of your skin texture and pores; as well as help to brighten your skin.

I also got a beautiful rose gold choker from 8 Other Reasons ($58). The choice was between silver or rose gold, but I'm loving the rose gold colour this winter season. I'm still getting used to the choker idea, but consistency is key. The great thing about this choker is that it's looser than the standard choker so I don't feel like I am literally being choked. Are you tired of the word 'choker' yet?

There were two choice items that we got to choose; a beauty item and a wellness item. The beauty options were between the Grace & Stella Anti-Wrinkle Energizing Eye Masks ($16) or the Nelson j Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Hair Mask ($23). I chose the hair mask because I don't think I'm quite at the stage in my life to start worrying about wrinkles. You've probably learned how much I love a good face mask, so I figured I'd try out a hair mask. This mask includes a formula that helps with detangling, frizz control, sealing split end, restoring silkiness and shine, and enhancing the hair's natural body. That's what the guide says at least. Blake and I have only tried it once and didn't notice a big difference, but I think it is a product that you need to use a couple of times before it's affects truly shine!

The wellness item was a choice between FFFTV Fitness Ball with Jillian Michaels Video ($16) or a This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray ($29). I chose the pillow spray. The spray contains a blend of lavender, vetivert, and chamomile. The spray is supposed to help induce sleep by decreasing anxiety and calming the body and mind. I was skeptical at first, but I think I've noticed changes in my sleep when I use it. I mean, the whole thing could be a placebo effect, but if I sleep better than I don't care! Sleep is sleep!

This is the last box of my annual subscription, but I think I'm going to renew it for another year. I've loved all the products that I've gotten. I can't wait to see what the 2018 boxes have in store for me!!
