Way back in October 1993, I attended the ceremony of my Uncle Angelo marrying his love, Sharon. I was only 2 weeks old. 25 years later, I got to attend their wedding anniversary celebration and got to witness their vows renewed. They held it at the Whitby Courthouse Theatre on the second floor. I volunteered at the Whitby Courthouse Theatre for 4 months in Grade 9 and had never been up there, so I was excited to finally get a chance to see what it was up there. Although there weren't any hidden or magical rooms that my Grade 9 self had hoped for, the upstairs room was the perfect venue for this fun and beautiful night. Once we arrived, we headed upstairs and were greeted by my two youngest cousins, Jayda and Paige. They were the official greeters and welcomed us to the event by giving us our assigned seating. Blake and I were at the "older kids" table. Our table was made up of family aged, roughly, 18-25 (Blake and I being the eldest). We were seated immediately adjacent to the head table since my cousin Thomas was at our table and is the older son of the happy couple. We only knew 50% of our table so it was interesting getting to know the others. Blake even had a lengthy conversation with one of Thomas' cousins who is in school for Power Engineering; what are the odds?!

Blake and I missed out on most of the appetizer spread since the DJ told everyone to take their seats, which we obliged. However, everyone else decided that meant time for food, then mingled for another 30 minutes. Not cool! Oh well! We did get a few bites at the end, so I can't totally justify complaining. After everyone, finally, took their seats, the couple were introduced and stood in front of all of their loved ones to renew their vows. Once the vows were renewed, Thomas and Luke (their younger son) got up to make speeches. Both speeches were beautiful written. Then, Aunt Sharon's brother got up to roast the couple. That was definitely unexpected.
Between all the speeches and roasts, we were served dinner. Although dinner didn't include a roast, it did include salad, stuffed pork loin and mashed potatoes. I don't usually like pork loin after Blake cooked it every weekend in University, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Dessert was an assortment of goodies ... and I don't remember what any of them were, but I'm sure they were all sweet and yummy. Once we had eaten, we all got up and participated in a Mannequin Challenge. If you don't know what that is, it's when a group of people freeze in position and someone films it. Everyone had funny positions, but I think the funniest was of Aunt Sharon's sister and her husband, who had assumed a life-saving resuscitation position on the floor. It was pretty hilarious.
Once all of the formalities were said and done, we got a chance to mingle and take pictures before the party really got started. I took this opportunity to take tons of pictures with my family and talk to everyone. My aunt and uncle got the party started by bringing in Caribana dancers. The dancers performed a fun, and incredibly impressive, dance before everyone was given their own masquerade masks and welcomed to the dance floor. I am always so ...embarrassed is a harsh word ... when it comes to dancing with Blake. He's the type of dancer that lets loose and doesn't care what everyone thinks. Unfortunately, I'm not as easy going; although I wish I was. We can be total opposites sometimes. I let him dance for a bit, but I'm still struggling with being comfortable letting loose without any liquid courage coursing through my veins. I was glad Blake was having a good time on the dance floor though. We stuck around for a little bit longer before heading home. It was a fun night filled with love and laughter. Congratulations to the beautiful couple and best wishes for another happy 25 years together.

(I'm disappoint about the grainy pictures. I forgot my camera for this event, so all of these pictures were taken on my phone. Most of the pictures were taken by me, but the extra grainy pictures are property of Blake!)
