I had originally made a sort of walk-through video tour of our house, but I hate the sound of my own voice and it, unfortunately, didn’t turn out very well. So, I just took a whole bunch of pictures of my beautifully clean house and, hopefully, they will do.

Blake and I had a very hard time finding a place call "home". When I first moved to Peterborough, I was living with a friend in her family home for about 2 months. I had already been rental house shopping for a couple of months by then and had no success. It was a series of disappointments; we had one place fall through and another application rejected. Finally, a coworker connected me with my landlords and the rest is history!

So let’s start off with a blueprint that I created of our house. We live in a sort of single story row house complex that has 4 separate units. It’s very hard to describe. We have shared walls, a shared driveway, and a shared length of backyard, but we each have our own deck/patio and front doors from the outside. We have 2 floors: The Main Floor (Left) and the Basement (Right). Although our front hall is off of the living room, we only use the backdoor from the kitchen as it leads to the shared driveway.

Here is what we see through our back, kitchen window.

So you can get an idea that we don’t live in an apartment. Ok! Let’s start the picture tour. We shall start in the kitchen. Blake enjoys to cook and I enjoy eating so the kitchen is an important place in our home. It is also the first room that you walk into when you enter our house.

Next up, through into the hallway - on the right, is the bathroom. Blake and I recently spent 100$ to update our bathroom and it was the best 100$ we spent. We are so much happier with the way that it looks. We replaced the shelves behind the toilet with a more modern metallic shelf and I hand spray painted the mirror to match. The mirror has a wood trimming, but it surprisingly looks good with the silver paint. I was worried that I wouldn't like the colour, but it turned out better than I could have hoped. We also installed a towel rack and bought newer accessories. We are very happy with the overall finished look.

Just past the bathroom is the dining room. We are completely obsessed with our furniture in this room. The table is Duncan Fife and came with the hutch. We got both online with VarageSale for 100$. If you ever need something, always check VarageSale first! We've bought lots of amazing furniture and great gifts from the app. So, if you haven't already, definitely check it out! I'm a fan! Love love love!

In the corner of the dining room we have our bookshelf. I say “our” but really it’s mostly covered with my books and cookbooks. Although, Blake does have half of the third shelf, so that’s something right?

Next we move onto the living room. This is a major entertainment space for us when we have guests over. My parents visit us a lot and this is where we all sit to catch up on our lives and drink tea (we love tea). Recently, I’ve created an office in this space. It’s a space that I can work on these blogs and feel like I’m in a productive environment.

The picture above is probably my favourite corner of the house. I’m so happy how put together it is. The pictures on the wall (also off of VarageSale) are three of my absolute favourite pieces in the house. They are paintings of France and I could stare at them all day. I've never been to France, but the artistic qualities in them are beautiful to me. Underneath them we have our electric fireplace which is a god-sent during the cold winter months and atop that is a beautiful vase that I got while in the Dominican Republic earlier this year. Also, we love this big comfy chair that we recently got from Blake’s aunt and uncle in Sarnia. Blake loves to use the electric recline feature on the chair.

Across from the living room is where (insert crib reference here) the magic happens! I like to refer to this room as Blake and I’s “Winter Bedroom”. We really only use this bedroom if we have guests or during the winter months when the basement is too cold to survive the night. On a side note: if anyone knows where we can get a decent inexpensive headboard please share - unfortunately I haven't been successful with online searching. We’ve been looking for one for what feels like forever.

The pictures above our bed are actually pictures that Blake and I painted last summer. They turned out so well we decided to hang them in our bedroom. I’ll post a picture below so you can get a better look at them. Blake painted the one on the left and I painted the one on the right. We wanted them to mirror each other with a dark/light concept.

Now moving on to the last part of the tour. The basement - also known as the “Summer Bedroom”. Blake and I don’t have A/C in our house, so the basement is our safe haven on those especially hot summer days/nights. It’s also our new games/entertainment space for our friends and family. Blake and I love board games.

So that’s it for the tour! I hope you enjoyed and were able to get an idea of our home. We have put a lot of work into it to make it perfect for us and I think it finally is. It may not be our forever home, but, for now, it’s ours and we love it. Feel free to visit us sometime; we love having visitors and entertaining. Just call before and give us a heads up … it usually isn’t this clean.
